About Cat6 S/FTP Cables

S/FTP is the most heavily screened Cat6 construction, with each twisted pair individually foiled and an overall braid around all four pairs. TMT’s Cat6 S/FTP models are supplied on 305 m reels with PVC, LSZH or PE outdoor jackets, mostly with 23 AWG conductors and an LSZH option at 24 AWG.

Screened cable is chosen for routes near power cabling, motors or other interference sources. To keep the screen continuous, the termination hardware should also be shielded and bonded: see Keystone Jacks and Copper Patch Panels, and use screened Cat6 patch cords.
