About Multimode Fibre Cables
Multimode fibre is typically used for shorter links inside buildings and campuses, such as backbones between floors, equipment rooms and data cabinets. The range covers OM2, the laser-optimised OM3 and OM4 grades, and an OM5 wideband option, in 2- to 24-core counts. Constructions include tight-buffered indoor distribution cable, indoor/outdoor cable and armoured cable for routes that need extra mechanical protection.
The fibre grade should follow the transceivers and link lengths in the network design, and the same grade should be used for the patch cords. For long-distance and FTTH links, compare Single Mode Fibre Cables. Matching multimode patch cords and ODFs complete the link.
